Halo Cares

Sunday, June 28th, 2009

It’s not every day I get a chance to do support all the local organizations I’d love to help out, but just don’t seem to have the time to. Luckily for me, Halo Purely for Pets made it very, very easy for me to give back to one organization in my community in a way that touches my heart profoundly.

I recently had done a photo shoot for Halo Purely for Pets; as well as shooting some new products, I also photographed some of their most popular cat and dog food products. This meant that Halo Purely for Pets had sent me 3x all the products I needed to photograph. When I finished the shoot, I asked what I should do with the products. True to Halo’s mission of giving back, I was told I could either keep the products, or give them away to an organization of my choice! Now, as much as everyone in my family would love to have a dog, we don’t have enough space in our yard to properly exercise a dog, something we think of every time we think how wonderful it would be to have a dog as part of our family. However, via my family and friends, I was aware of a place in Kennebunk, Maine, the Animal Welfare Society, that would love to receive such a dontation. With 53 kennels, the shelter supplies refuge to not only dogs, but on the day I arrived, they had 290 cats, several birds, and a few other exotic animals I didn’t recogize. The shelter’s mission statement reads like this: "The Animal Welfare Society exists to provide humane shelter and care to animals temporarily in need of housing, and to further the cause of responsible animal adoption and ownership through education and public awareness. The society actively promotes kindness, the elimination of cruelty and neglect to all animals, and the lifelong commitment of people to their pets." With their mission so in line with Halo’s, I knew I had found an organization with integrity and love of animals at its core.

To say the the Animal Welfare Society was grateful for the donation was an understatement. Again, with so many animals to look after, all dontations are a welcomed blessing. I can’t thank Halo Purely for Pets enough for allowing me the opportunity to do something so worthwhile and generous in support of an organization close to my heart!

Adam Coupe Photography - Amazing Architectural Photographer based in the United Kingdom

Recently I’ve been able to make the aquaintance of a very talented photographer working out of the UK. Like most people invested in anything social media, I do use twitter for my personal gains: to keep up to date with trends in photography, to be aware of and read interesting articles about photography, to find out about equipment reviews, and of course, to be able to be enlightened, inspired, and in some cases, awed by the work of other photographers. And it was one such photographer that has inspired me to no end.

Working with architectural practices, construction manufacturers and commercial organisations, Adam Coupe provides stunning digital images of structures, installations and many other types of commercial photography. His style is clean, crisp and detailed. His brilliant use of lighting creates atmosphere and enhances details of the buildings he photographs, be it the interior of an airport lounge, the natural elegance of a room in your home or an industrial building at night. Below are some examples of Adam’s impressive work. Be sure to check out his website at http://www.adamcoupe.com/blog, or follow him on twitter, http://www.twitter.com/adamcoupe.

Seafood Business Cover

Friday, June 19th, 2009

It was recently my pleasure and honour to have photographs that I’d taken at the International Boston Seafood Show used for cover of  June 2009 Special Advertising Section of Seafood Business. The multi-talented art director of Seafood Business,  Laura Dobson, seamlessly incorporated numerous photographs  into the background of  grid-styled layout. Thank you Laura and thank you Seafood Business.
