It’s funny, whenever I’m looking for something, a tutorial, effect, something I remember from the good old days of E6 and C41 film, I find a way to stumble across it, almost blindly, but as if it were meant to be. For quite some time now, I’ve been wondering how best to digitally replicate the effect of processing E6 film as C41 negatives. I certainly could have found this online at any time, I’m sure, by searching for these keywords, however, being a busy person who spends more time behind the lens and less time online, I just never got around to doing the search. Yet, I managed, via twitter, to stumble across exactly what I was looking for. I found this tutorial, How To Make Digital Photos Look Like Lomo Photography from the website Digital Photography School. The thing is, though, that this tutorial isn’t so new, it’s been out there since the end of 2007, but still, it was just the sort of thing I was looking for, and just stumbled across.

You’ll see in the top photo to the right the finished effect, below that, the original, untouched, downloaded image. Now, as this was my first go at this, I used any old photo I had at hand, in this case, it was a photo I took with a Canon Sure Shot (not my big fancy professional Nikon). However, it should be easy to see the difference between the original, and the one I created following the tutorial.

Like I said, I may not have choosen the right image, and I could have played around with it a bit more, but I’m pretty impressed with the results and am so happy to have read and done the tutorial.

Seafood Center Birthday Party

The Seafood Center's Town Fryer Newsletter

Birthdays are always special occassions, and I was recently honoured and priviledged to attend and photograph one special birthday party held at The Seafood Center of Maine (Arundel, ME).

The Seafood Center of Maine is a family-orientated and fun place for a birthday party. The menu is child-friendly, the ambience is relaxed and cosy and the staff is quite warm and friendly. You never feel "rushed" to get in and out and children are made to feel special and welcomed.

The party was for Miles, who turned four! He had a lovely table prepared for himself and his friends. Balloon animals, hats and cardboard model aeroplane kits were distributed. The birthday lunch consisted of various fresh seafood dishes, coleslaw, french fries, onion rings hot dogs, burgers and drinks. The children all enjoyed the food and festivities, which were followed by cake (of course), ice cream and games.

The Seafood Center of Maine values its customers, giving expectional service and value for the money and they really go out of their way to make your birthday experience unique. Just look at how delighted Miles was with his cake!

Birthday photography is ony a small part of the photography I love and enjoy doing. Check out my portrait photography and website for more information.
