Kelly & Chad’s Wedding

Friday, October 30th, 2009

Kelly and Chad were married last Saturday, October, 24, 2009. The wedding took place late in the afternoon and the weather was proving to be a challenge. With heavy rain and cold temperatures, it was looking like it might be a washout, but in the end, the rain stopped and the wedding was simply beautiful.

Congratulations Kelly and Chad. It was an honour and a pleasure to be there to create your photographic wedding memories.

Traveling Back

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

I’m always amazed at how technology keeps evolving, at times, seemingly isolating us more and more from our past, pushing us into, at times, an unsure future. Wouldn’t it be nice if in some instances, other than the study of archeology, the cosmos or other science related fields, for technology to connect us with a sense of the past.

I’m glad to have found something that works for me. There’s a bounty of digital cameras out there and lots of software too where you can now manipulate your images to make them seem more authentic to a specific time period or give them a “vintage” feel.  Using these technologies help me feel a bit more connected with the bygone era of photography (still miss my darkroom whose smell, I don’t think, can be replicated with software alone). Still, sometimes its nice to come full circle, accept the future, while using it to reflect upon the past.

The images below are of the Pepperell Mill, which was built in the 1850’s.

Halloween 2009

Thursday, October 22nd, 2009

I should start this post: Halloween, the FIRST House on the Left!

Every year my neighbours (first house on the left) put on a fantastic Halloween display and really make the children work for their "treats". I must admit, I’m not one for the horror film genre, nor do I like things that frighten the bejeezus out of me, or jump out at me and make me feel as though I’m having a coronary stroke. However, I just can’t keep away from this house, wondering what they will do next and what they’ll have set up for a scare. One year, I was more frightened then the children I brought trick-or-treating to the house. We had to walk through the back garden which was set up like a film set resplendid with smoke machines and characters realistic enough to do any horror film proud. The first thing that jumped out at us was a werewolf type figure from behind a coffin. I screamed so loud that I starteled the kids I was with moreso than the werewolf did. My scream was heard about 1/4 of a mile away as well.

Last year, since I wanted to photograph some of the mayhem, I particularly asked that no one jump out at me, but I have to admit, I was still a bit creeped out. However, I’m really looking foward to what they will do this year and will definitely make it back again this year. For more photos, visit www.angelacoulombe.com

Clowns are creepy enough, but this guy takes it to level 5 in creepiness.
