Halloween 2009 cont.

It seems more and more people in my neighbourhood are getting more and more

into Halloween. Over the past couple of years, its almost like there is a competition to see who can out-do who. Of course, I don’t mind, as it does make for a frightfully good night, and some interesting photography.

There are two houses in my neighbourhood in particular that put on a frightlfully good show. One keeps it to the outdoors, the other opens its doors to the public and dares you to enter the smoky, strobe-light extravaganza. The house that keeps it outdoors does manage to thrill and surprise. There are many props that lunge, pop up, and all around scare, as well as real people dressed up as traditional scare-fest characters: Freddie Krugger, Jason, etc. And yes, I was surprised to the point of screaming once or twice at things that do go bump in the night.

The other house which tempts the trick-or-treater in with a tour of gore actually puts on a phenomenal show. This year was no expection, in fact, I think they up’ed their game considerably. You could hear the screams from 1/2 street away - that, and the chainsaws! Creepy clowns, body parts hanging from the ceiling, vampires that spring out of coffins to tap you on the shoulder, werewolves and gargoyles and oh, did I mention the guys with chainsaws? This head popped up and out of the barrel when you least suspected it.

Another ghoul. One had to wonder if it was a real person, or a prop.

This guy had me going. At first I thought it was a prop then it moved!

This prop moved from the garden to the porch (see http://bit.ly/1HHBU6, first and second photo)

Another jean-clad ghoul.

Freddie Krugger look alike. Quite creepy in the dark!

This was just a small part of a larger scene that was created to resemlbe a creepy cemetery.

You think you escaped the house of horrors in once piece, only to be chased down the road by this fellow1

Obviously, some people don’t find clowns as creepy as I do.

Funky heads of horror.

Smoke machines added to the creepy ambiance.

One was never sure what was going to jump out and what wasn’t. In this case, this little fellow was a static display.

One of my favourite parts to the display. Giant saw cutting up faux body parts. The stuff nightmares are made of.

Again, some people just love the clown. I’m not one of them.
