A lunch time walk around Portland, ME.

I must admit, I pretty terrible at getting out for lunch. When I do, I’m either at the gym or running (trying to train to run a marathon in 2010), which doesn’t leave me much time for inspirational walks around town. Yesterday, after a good run and crazy Tae Kwon Do workout the previous day, I decided to treat myself to a break and decided it would be the perfect opportunity to get out and take an inspiring look at the city and of course, make some photos.

I didn’t have my usual large camera with me, instead, intentionally choosing my iPhone for the task. I think its important, as an artist and photographer, to continually challenge myself to work with different formats and mediums, training the eye to see shapes, forms and compostitions through different "lenses". In years past, my Polaroid SX70 and Land camera would have been my alternative to my 35mm and medium format cameras. Today, it’s my iPhone. Below is a selection of images taken on a brief lunch time walk around Portland.

It seemed that a bit of a shop window theme was developing so I cecided to go with it for a bit. There’s certainly enough interesting displays to see. Shop window, Congress St, Portland, ME.

This was another interesting window display. I think it’s also the first christmas tree decoration I’ve seen up this year. This was taken on Free Street.

I look at this and I see the word Maine, but I like the splashes of paint on the ground moreso.
