NESN Little League Sunday - June 6, 2010

There are moments in life that you’ll never forget, that taught you something you can’t read in a book, that you have to experience, and I hope this Sunday’s expericnce will prove to be just one of these moments for my son.

His Litttle League team was choosen to represent the sport at this level on the Red Sox pre-game show on NESN (New England Sport Network), hosted by Kathryn Tappen and baseball Hall of Fame member Jim Rice. Prior to the live recording the children were asked to each come up with three questions to ask Jim Rice of which 4 would be choosen. Those children who’s questions were picked would get to ask Jim himself. As luck would have it, my son’s question was picked and he handled his 15 minutes of fame with decorum and poise above his 11 years of age, what a proud mom moment.

The team also enjoyed a tour of the studios, popping by the graphics room, sound room and other parts of the studio. They each received a baseball signed by Jim Rice himself, a signed photograph of Kathryn Tappen but hopefully they came away with much, much more. Hopefully they came away with a life leason imparted by the words of Jim Rice, when he told them "it’s all about the fun!", as life itself should be.
