Spring comes to Maine!

Hooray for Spring and a Return to Plants and Color!

For the past two weeks I have been pretty much house-bound with a sick child who needed quite a lot of supervision. The past weeks were as grey and foggy as the day I shot the Wednesday Weather fog shots. In fact, in the nine years I’ve been living in Maine, I cannot remember such grizzly, foggy and dismal weather! (No wonder my poor child was ill!)

However, this all seemed to change this weekend. With some warmer temperatures outside (Saturday, April 4th, we actually got up to 55F -  what a scorcer!), and some sunshine, spring seems to finally be kicking into gear. Miraculously enough, the crocuses are all in bloom around my yard, especially where I carefully transplanted quite a few blubs last year after having to replant a tree in the spot where we lost one earlier in the year! As a person who’s passion it is to photograph flowers, I was estatic beyond words this weekend. My child is over his illness, and I was able to take a few photos of the first flowers of spring:

The daffodils and tulips should be following shortly, though, of course, April showers bring May flowers and there is plenty of rain scheduled for the next couple of days!
